Do I listen to the little green gecko, or do I listen to my good neighbor who is "there"?
I never dreamed there was so much STUFF to do with getting homeowner's insurance. So far, I've narrowed it down to the two. The advantage of State Farm, even though they are a bit more expensive, is that they have a local office, and I've served on the Chamber of Commerce Board with the Agent. In fact, we were nominated and voted on the board at the same time, so there is a bit of history with him. Hmmm.... I wonder if he's thought about pre-arranging his funeral? OH.... Anway, the advantage of Geico, well, they are less expensive and they give an additional discount due to the fact that our cars are insured through them. The big let down with Geico, though, is the fact that "Gecko" evidently now wears a turban and speaks with a really heavy Indian ('dot' not the 'feather') accent, and I don't really care whether or not he's paid for his funeral yet. They probably don't even have funerals there....... anyway, the whole time I was on the phone with him, I just kept picturing the geico gecko, sitting at a desk in Bangladesh, looking at his "How to Speak English and Use Catch Phrases to Attempt to Fool the American into Thinking He's Talking to a BanglaTexan Down the Street: Volume 2.", and I couldn't help but chuckle. I wonder if he's the same "gecko" that answered my computer password question at work the other day? Sounded like it to me!Anyway, I think I'm probably gonna go with Jeff Rhoades, my Chamber friend, who REALLY IS down the street, talking "All-American Iowa Parken Texan" right now, and not having to look at a book to do so. It was so nice to call and not have to figure out how to punch in my whole life history in "10 Key: Phone Pad Version" just for someone to be able to tell me how much a month it will cost us to insure that if "The Tribulation" is unleashed on our home, that we'll be able to re-build and move on with our lives after the fact. How exactly does punching 1, 4, 3, 11, 14, 1, 6, 12, 6, 1978, 2, 56, 8923054739875143284673293C321432333215, really simplify a phone conversation anyway?
Thanks, Jeff, for answering your phone personally! That probably just won you the business!!

Lynn, I wish you the best of luck with State Farm. We didn't have a good experience with them, so we switched to USAA, and they are WONDERFUL!!! Our every need is always supplied quickly.
LOL!!! I love your "take" on things!
We've been with State Farm for years and have had no trouble. In fact, even when we moved to Pflugerville we kept our agent in WF. We, also, like the availability and clear speaking of someone local.
Well I have a very personal agent I can call 24/7 His name is DADDY! My dad has us insured with travelers both home and auto. They are a really great company. If you have multi line coverage like move your cars to state farm you will get discounts. If you have any questions let me know I can tell you if you are completely covered. That is the only problem with state farm. My dad has had alot of customers not have enough coverage. His number is 1800-945-1843 if you want a quote!
I have no advice as far as agent, or company, but I DO love having someone you can actually talk to and understand!! I will buy from almost anyone who can actually say, "Ma'am and Ya'll"! LOL! I like that a whole lot more than trying to figure out what someone is saying. Thanks for another laugh, Lynn. Love YA'll!
Well, we really liked State Farm, but their rates got high here in the Tyler area. So we switched to AIG. Much less expensive, all American all of the time, but no local "AIG" office. I think they have agents in local offices, but I went to their web site and called the 800 number. They have been very easy to work with on a couple of things we had happen to our cars. We have both our cars and home with them and got a great discount.
