I have the privilege of working with a man that I’ve known for years, but never really had the opportunity to really work with until 2005. This man owns his own business that we use third-party through my job. He is a man who has been extremely over weight for years and I have always wondered how in the world he could do what he does day-in, day-out. This is a man who works literally ALL THE TIME. He gets called out, at a minimum, twice a night, disrupting his sleep, often times going 24, 36, and even 72 hours without so much as a nap. He constantly is moving and has contracts with funeral homes from Chickasha, OK down to Decatur, TX from Lubbock to Sherman, and has an extremely successful life. He, since 2006, has dieted on an extremely regimented diet and has dropped nearly half of his body weight. Did he do it with surgery? No. Did he have some ‘miracle’ procedure done on his body? No. Did he do it with pills? Nope! He did it with determination. He did it with passion. He did it with self will, a will to be healthy. He is still overweight, but is much happier, healthier, and has said to me that he feels like a totally different person.
Why am I talking about this man? Because I have heard that there are those who think large people don’t have a work ethic, because I have heard that there are self-centered, self-righteous, pigs who think that just because they are in a NEW position of authority, that they have the wisdom to look at a large person and say, they don’t deserve a job because they are lazy, not knowing the person from Adam. True, I haven’t been in management, I’m not in a position of leadership in our company to make the decisions of who can work and who cannot, BUT I can say that I have enough wisdom to know that you don’t judge a person by their size, or any other reason for that matter. When people start judging like this, they need to look in the mirror and realize that they too were once, and still are, well…. Let me put it in their words, “FAT.” Good thing the person that hired them didn’t have the same philosophy and All Knowing Wisdom God graced them with. Walk lightly my friend, statements and philosophies like this do have a way to come back and bite you.
As for my co-worker, he’s on vacation right now, overseas, with his new girlfriend… for two weeks. Sounds like he’s lazy to me! I wish laziness did bring money like that, but last time I checked, hard work, dedication and desire are what do that. Exactly the type of person I want working for me!

I agree! BTW - Farley doesn't look like he weighs 243lbs! He carries the weight very well.
Well, his weight is in height.
Very well written, Lynn! I totally agree with you.
