Life

March is almost gone, hard to believe, but its true. I've always heard that time has a way of speeding up as you age and at the rate its going now, I'll be 60 in what will seem about three months from now!
It really does seem like yesterday we gathered at my parents' home for Thanksgiving and then turned around and went back for Christmas and before you know it, we'll be headed to Fort Worth for the 4th of July with Kim's side of my family.
Seems, as I age, I'm beginning to grasp, barely, but grasping none the less, a hold of what life is about. It's not about spending time, slaving away, making some rich CEO richer. It's not about what you can set back so you don't have to worry about paying for your future. It's not about what you have or whether or not somebody else has more. It's not even about whether the Democrats can survive the Clintons and keep their party from crumbling before their eyes.
Today we had "Fellowship Sunday" at church. I had to work, but was able to attend later in the day and spent most of my time there doing nothing. Some played different sports, something I'm told I'm not a "Real Man" because I don't participate; some yelled, annoyingly loud, at each other while grabbing at spoons and ringing bells while playing cards; some sat and talked about God, the things of God, and their life's experiences in church; some just sat and ate A LOT of food. I found myself just sitting.... sitting there, just enjoying good fellowship with friends and family. I sat there, relaxed, and enjoyed what turned out to be a HOT Spring evening, seeing it hit nearly 90 degrees before we all left. I sat there and just thought to myself that THIS is what life is all about. Slowing down, spending time with the people you love, playing games, ever annoying as they may seem, enjoying stories of elders who've been down "that road" before and how God brought them through, and just enjoying this thing of which we're all apart.
Life. It's about that, plain and simple.
-approved by Farley Wells, SAD-CMDI who can't remember Thanksgiving, Christmas, OR the 4th.

Great post Lynn and oh so true. It is amazing as we get older, which brings on maturity too, that we do "start" to understand what life is all about. Today is a day I do wish that we could bottle up & keep & share & keep & share. Oh well you get the point. :))

Thanks for reflecting on today.

Grabbing spoons and yelling while playing cards was quite fun, actually, but I think I am going hoarse. :)
