Soapbox

What would be said if George W. Bush had spent over 140 million on his inauguration? What would be said if after just a few days in office, he'd have signed a trillion dollar "stimulus" package into existence and when asked about how we'd know if it worked, just say.... "Uhhhhhh... we may never know." What would be said if President Bush would have fired a CEO that he had no business firing? Well, I think we all know what would have happened. There'd be this big investigation, threat of impeachment, accusations that he has not a clue what he's doing, and people would be accusing him of using his "cowboy antics" to push his agenda forward.

Well? If he'd have done all of this, I'd be there too! I'd be fighting mad that a President of the United States would have the audacity to think he is some sort of god over all of us. And I know, people say "well, GM is using the government's money so why not let the President have the authority to hire and fire at will?" Well, last time I checked, this money was a LOAN to GM, just like a few years ago when I went down to my local banker and asked if I could borrow a few thousand bucks! You know what I'd have done if my personal banker had walked into the funeral home and said, "Lynn, I don't like what your doing here and since I lent you this money, you're FIRED!" I'd have laughed in his face! Come on! The president has no business in the affairs of a corporation, unless he is a Socialist Dictator.

If a CEO isn't safe to run his corporation the way he AND HIS BOARD see fit, then I guess nobody is safe. If a corporation needs to go bankrupt and fall flat on their face, then so be it! That's Capitolism, and that is why our country has made it this long and become the envy of the world because of our prosperity! People need to wake up and see what is going on here! Slowly, but surely, our freedoms are being taken from us, and as one radio host said, we're headed to be a country like those we've fought and died to free.

I'm off my soapbox now.... I'm gonna go mow my yard, while our president is cracking jokes about people with disabilities. Maybe he won't notice me doing something without his permission!
