Today is the last day of life at the apartment. No more having to be quiet while a family has a visitation. No more waiting until 8 PM to watch a movie. No more walking outside to find smokers sitting at the outdoor table in "my backyard." No more random questions about families I know nothing about, from employees who just happened to see me outside and feel like asking me. Ah yes, that would be freedom I'm hearing in the distance. Freedom to cook in a grassy backyard instead of a hot tar roof. Freedom to stomp across the livingroom if I so desire. Freedom to let the dogs howl and if I want.... howl along with them. Freedom to sit and draw, talk, read..... okay, maybe not read, but you get the point, without the fear of having it interrupted by a man at the garage below, needing in at 10 PM to drop-off a deceased. Ah, the sound is getting louder by the minute. Let's see, there's no more trains running thru the apartment at 2 AM, no more EXTREMELY LOUD fire sirens at 7 PM on Tuesday nights, calling all the fire fighters to a meeting that they ALREADY KNOW ABOUT because they have one EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT. No need for all the excitement!!!! No more having to take the dogs out when we get in at midnight, waiting on them for 15 minutes to do their business while fighting their leashes, to keep from knotting up and tangling around my ankles. Now I'll just open the door and say, "you want to go OUTSIDE???? YAY!!!", and they'll both RUUUUN to the door, Chandler twirling in circles all the way, just for them to realize that once they are outside, I didn't follow them. HAH! Can't wait!
Sorry, I'm just a bit excited about the huge change in our life that is occurring as I type. Though, I'm not excited about that big check every month. Yeeeish.... that won't be fun. Anyway, hopefully in a few days, we'll have some pictures for you all to see. Pictures of what I've been doing for two weeks solid. Painting....... speaking of which, I must go. I have yet a kitchen to conquer, and what a battle it has become!
-approved by Farley Wells, CMDI who is gathering brushes, rollers, drop-cloths, and his painter's hat.
