I Get it From my Mama!

I have to say Happy Mother's Day to the most influential person in my life. I got to thinking about a few traits she has passed on to me through the years, and want to share a few.
Believe it or not, I have a shy side. When I get in a public setting, where people are talking, mingling, and "politicking", I clam up tight and just wish it was all over and I was home again. I've watched my mom in different settings and have noticed, I get it from her. I also tend to worry. I worry about finances, life, liberty, the "pursuit" of happiness, what others think of me, what I'm going to do for the evening; did I turn the iron off?? Yep, that's her too! I've been called "Smiley" a time or two by co-workers, but that's from my Dad; big ole squinty eyed grin; but it's usually what I'm thinking that I'm not saying that makes me smile, and that is my momma. I tend to nod my head in church to music, preaching and anything else I agree with, that's her. I tend to get flustered easily, that's her too! My organizational skills, yep! The fact that I pick apart everything I read to find the little comma that was left out, or the space that's missing, or the word that was used improperly, DEFINITELY her. I've got the "Hunter" nose, which would be from her, and I've learned to stand. Stand up for myself, which a lot of young men can't seem to do these days. I've learned from her that something worth having is going to take a lot of hard work, dedication, and sometimes going against the grain, to achieve. I've learned that being strong, more often than not, involves crying like a baby, and I've learned that with every day that passes, I find myself wanting to learn more, more about my momma; a person that I hope, one day, my kids will be able sit and type about, thinking its traits that they got from no other but me. That would be one of the greatest compliments I could ever receive. Happy Mother's Day Momma! Love You!
