"Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind..." Just a bit of Elvis for all who remember. I had a flashback last night of a time when I was young. We used to leave church on a Sunday night with my parents.... yeah, that young... and we would go home in Burkburnett, then Wichita, and then in Iowa Park, just as Jay's Gospel Jubilee was beginning, in time to hear "Give....the....World a smile each day(Bright smile everyday).... And every Sunday night we would go home, change into more comfortable clothes, my mom and dad would make queso and some sort of dip with sour cream, whether it be ranch, french onion, or the 'poor man's dip' Pace Picante Sauce mixed with sour cream.... Yummm! That was good eattin'! On rare occasions, my dad would fix fried crackers. How they were made, I don't know, but they sure were good. Doubt the nutritional value, but they were definitely worth eating. Sometimes, we even had nachos. I guess "whiteboy" nachos, Tostito chips with grated cheese melted on them... Those were the days, back when the only worries were whether or not your vicious sisters were going to pull some mean trick on you at bed time... Yep, a peaceful time I remember so well.

Lynn, I love the memories! Wow! Life flies by so fast. Where do the years go?
Funny you mentioned the fried crackers. My mom has made me fried crackers too. Can we term it a "Dutton" thing?? Anyway in case you ever want to make them just melt some butter in a skillet then toast crackers on one side, flip and toast the other side. Yes they are good and the only nutrition I found them to have is sodium and fat--LOL!!
Hey one thing we had to worry about was back when momma and daddy would heat the chips in the toaster oven and they would catch on fire....I don't know if you remember that! LOL! They would grab them out of the toaster oven really quick and throw them in the sink...man the smell! If you try the crackers thing, beware, the butter burns easily!
Jay's Gospel Jubilee---I remember "Looking for a City" and we ALL sang along and made every key change......Those were the days!!!
What are you talking about...the pranks Kassie and I would pull on you...LOL! LOL! LOL! Oh well, just means you are loved VERY MUCH!
Oh my goodness! I have these memories too! Every Sunday night we would listen to Jay's Gospel Jubilee on our 6 ft. long stereo! And our tradition was to eat hot dogs, but not on hot dog buns, just plain bread. I have not however, had fried crackers! Interesting. And Lynn, Kolton lives on "whiteboy nachos". Lori, that is funny about the toaster!

Oh my goodness, we had a 6 ft long stereo too!!! Complete with LP, 8 Track, and manual dial radio all for your listening pleasure, wrapped up in a 300 pound wooden case w/ that scratchy wirey cover over the speakers. "General Electric, Mobility Made Difficult."
Lynn, thanks for bringing up the memories! We remember the Jay's Gospel Jubilee also. Those long stereos...we thought they were something back then!!! lol
