Mediocrity Killed the Cat

I heard an interesting statement from a gentleman I know well. He simply stated, "It seems as if we are striving for mediocrity." At first I thought, "Why would anyone do such a thing?" Yet, the more I thought about it, there is a lot of truth in the statement. It seems that in our world, this is becoming more of the acception than the exception.

We see mediocrity being displayed everywhere, from when we get up in the morning, squeeze the toothpaste, and the "E-z Flip, Less-Mess Lid" holds more goo in it than any "ancient" screw-type lid ever did. Then when we go to work, it seems there are more people who would rather find things to do to lower your quality of production than to increase it, only to leave work in a car that was promised to still be running at 70,000 miles to find that it only made it half way. Why is that? Have we accepted the myth that we "ain't what we used to be?" Have we, as Americans accepted what other countries say about us, that we are lazy, spoiled rotten brats? I know I haven't!

So, why don't more people step up to the plate, without steroids, and show the world what they are made of? I don't know, but it really makes me have one of those gag reflexes that makes me taste the 'tater salad' I had last night, feeling the chunks as I swallow them back down. Not to be gross, but it's the truth! Mediocrity makes me SICK!! I don't know why I'm rambling about this, I guess it's the experience I've had with some fellow employees that see it to be their duty to lower MY standards of quality and excellence that MY FAMILY and I have upheld for YEARS. TWENTY to be exact!

Anyway, to lighten myself back up to the 'Dubya' standard, here is one of my dad's favorite jokes. It goes along with the theme, and if there are any "Okie's" reading, relax, I still love you. Here goes, "Why does Oklahoma have 'OK' on their license plates?" Give up? Because mediocre was too hard to spell!" hahaha.... I'll be back to myself in NO TIME! Have a great Monday!
