Today was kind of a rocky start to the new year. I guess my day was good, for me; but what happened today made me sit and think a bit and I've thought all day long about it.
At around 11 this morning, there was an accident just outside of the funeral home in Wichita Falls. It involved a couple in their 70's who ran a stop sign out into the busy highway where a small car, with a 24 year old in it, hit them head on. Judging from the appearance, we could tell that some or all of the victims were injured severely. It became evident, shortly there after, that the older gentleman was killed upon impact.
We were all reminded so quickly of how fragile life is. We all deal with death on a daily basis, but when we actually see it happen right before our eyes, it completely changes the way you look at it. That intersection is one that I travel through daily and many, if not all, of my co-workers travel through daily. It was nothing short of a miracle that one of us were not involved.
My heart goes out to the wife, who is now a widow and their little dog that was with them. The wife didn't have a clue what had even happened because she was in such a daze. I hope, and pray, that God will keep his hand on the family during this difficult time, and that God will help the man that collided with them. He was not at fault and couldn't avoid what happened, but I know that he'll have to live with the fact that a man died because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I don't know their names, all I know is that the elderly couple was from Amarillo, but please pray for them. They are somebodies parents, grandparents, and possibly great-grandparents and I know that the family needs God's help right now.

I heard about the accident, and my heart went out to all that were involved! They will certainly be in my prayers.
Hey, you should correct this to say that the stop sign had been chopped off. He couldn't run it because it wasn't there to run. Yes, I'm being nosey.
