Christmas Eve

Well today has been relaxing!! Kim and I have spent much of the day doing nothing. We are in the process of waiting for our evening guests to arrive. This is a tradition that dates back to, I don't know when, WAY before I got married. It's my night with the Ouellette's, which has turned into OUR night with the Ouellette's.

This night is one that is filled with great memories from Christmas Eves past when I used to go over to the Ouellette's home and help put the train under the tree and place those last minute gifts and listen to Barbara tell stories of some of the ornaments on the tree. It was always a night for her and Joe to get so excited and go WAY overboard for their two "new" sons. They always wanted to make sure that Brandon and David had yet another "Biggest Christmas Ever." I know it meant so much to them to be able to give to Brandon and David.

I remember one Christmas Eve when a certain game was given, not to Brandon or David, but I believe from Joseph to Jason. Little did we know that night, that this game would soon become a staple in our friendships and would create hours upon hours of arguments, laughter, stupid moves, and triumphant victories that we all would experience... well, except for Jason:) Just kidding. He won once or twice. It was none other than the game of RISK. I remember us three sitting down at 12 AM Christmas morning, none having a clue about the game or how involved it was, and us playing it for hours! It was that night that I became known as "The Little Red Guys"; Joseph Yellow; and Jason Blue. One Christmas Eve I'll never forget. We had so much fun!

I miss going to the Ouellette's home, it was always so comfortable and VERY festive, but tonight is a new beginning. A night for the Ouellette's to come to our home. So, we wait anxiously for the arrival of Joseph and Brandon. Maybe next year Jase and Julie, and David can be here with us to celebrate Christmas Eve. Tonight may be small, but no less meaningful; to be able to share with my very dear friends of whom I love so much. Thank you Joseph for continuing this tradition with us. It means a lot to me.

And on a lighter note, here's a pic of what Chandler and Jorgie got to do in celebration of Christmas Eve. They got to spend the morning on the guest bed! Notice... not OUR bed. That won't happen! Don't worry though, we'll wash the sheets before our next guests visit - I hope! Chandler and Jorgie should get to break the rules every once in a while, don't ya think? It wouldn't be Christmas if they couldn't!
Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

-approved by Farley Wells, CMDI who says "Merry Christmas Eve too!"
