Rainy Day

For some reason, August has turned to October in just a matter of days. Last week it was in the high 90's and low 100's and today we will be blessed to see the high 70's. I was off yesterday and again today, so I've turned the a/c off, opened the windows(something I couldn't do at the apartment) and have enjoyed cool weather while hearing the sounds of the outdoors. It's nice!!

I'm reminded of when my family would go to Arkansas to visit Luke and Lora, I believe they were my great aunt and uncle but I'm not sure, the days seemed to drag by then, but I remember how it seemed we were out in the middle of nowhere and did nothing but enjoy the coolness of the Arkansas air, as we sat outside, or how I wouldn't want to go to sleep because of being able to lay there and hear the outdoor noises. They always seemed to relax me so much that I eventually fell asleep anyway. I remember how it would begin to rain as I could hear the sounds of a thunder shower as it would roll through, leaving only the wet ground and the smell of rain as evidence. It really was nice!
Well, the past two days have really reminded me of that and needless to say, these are quite possibly the two most relaxing days I've had in a while. Last night I was really reminded as I went to sleep, with the window open, and could hear distant thunder and the pattering of rain as it began to hit the open window and ran down to the already saturated ground. Thank you Lord for the rain.... and for reminding us that October IS on its way. There's not too much more of 110 degree weather left to "enjoy."
-approved by Farley Wells, CMDI who has fallen asleep just reading this post.
DISCLAIMER: I have tried to fix the paragraph problem. Blogger doesn't seem to want to let me put spacing between my paragraphs toward the end. It did this yesterday and today. Anybody else have this problem?? Forgive me for everything being "run together." I hope you will read in spite of this Blogger Flaw.

Well, I am reminded of the younger years growing up in California. I lived on a small island north of S.F. We would have rainy days all winter long; about three months of it. I miss the slow dripping rain and thunder storms (never really severe) so much. I had a hard time waking up this morning simply from the weather.
I also miss catching sea fish or whatever hit the hook while sitting on the sand and collecting mussels for bait right out of the water. You could even throw some in the soup can on the fire and eat while fishing!

Alas and anon, youth is gone!

I think the blog server needs to have the code re-copied, this seems like an HTML code issue. Maybe they will repair it quickly.

Lynn,
I remember those times, too. Do you remember the fireflies? Oh, I think Luke and Lora were our third cousin or something like that. She was Paw-paw's cousin, I think.

I wasn't real sure, but they are kin to us somehow. I remember the fireflies too!

The rain is great by me, as long as there are no threats of a Tornado with it,LOL! It is just relaxing and peaceful. You always have some great post and I enjoy reading them!
