Father’s Day means a lot to me. Many years ago, my daddy gave a gift to me, just as his did him, something very special, something of integrity, something to honor. When I sit and think of how wonderful it is to have this gift given to me, I am left speechless. Many men abuse this gift, or maybe even trade it for another, but I’ll never do this, because you see, I could never repay my daddy what he so graciously gave me nearly 30 years ago. It’s a gift he took to the jungles of Vietnam and brought back with him, wounded in body, but the gift had not a scratch. A gift that he placed in a business 20 years ago, that is stronger than ever, a gift that when you pick up our paper, everyday, you see it. When you drive through downtown, Iowa Park, its there, shining bright for all the world to see. I feel pride when I think of what this gift has done for me over the years. It has shown me how to honor and to respect others, it has shown me to love and care for each and every family I serve, and it makes me proud to be who I am, where I am today. What is this gift? A gift only he could give me, passed down for generations and left to me to uphold, it’s my last name.
Happy Father’s Day to MY DADDY, Larry Lynn Dutton. Thank you Daddy.
